Lil' Wayne Goes To Jail 3/9/10 Rapper Lil' Wayne reported for his first day serving a prison sentence for a gun posession charge. Lil' Wayne, whom is also known by his real name Dwyane Carter, is going to Rutgers Island jail, where he will serve for as much as eight months. He waved bye to fans standing outside of court today. Lindsay Lohan Sues E-Trade Over "Baby" Ad 3/9/10 Lindsay Lohan wasn't laughing when E-Trade aired an ad that she thinks was based on her. She has filed a $100 million dollar lawsuit aganst the stock trading website, as well as demainding that the ad cease further airings. (it aired during the Super Bowl earlier this year.) Although her name was never mentioned in the ad, her lawyer claims that the name "Lindsay" was a recognizable moniker similar to Madonna. Lohan is known for her role in the movie "Mean Girls" and her penchant for parties, drinking and clashes with hollywood producers over her behavior. The Hurt Locker Takes Top Honors At Oscars 3/7/10 Those going to bed early thinking Avatar was a lock for the Best Picture nod got a suprise...The Hurt Locker won two key categories at the 82nd Annual Academy Awards, Best Director for Kathryn Bigelow and Best Picture. Locker, a military film, beat out Avatar, Precious and Up In the Air, among other films. Bigelow becomes the first female director to win an award for best director. Other winners include for Best Actress, Sandra Bullock for The Blind Side, which saw her defeating her hero Meryl Streep for the honor. Jeff Bridges (Crazy Heart) won for Best Actor. Mo'Nique (Precious) won for Best Supporting Actress, Christoph Waltz (Inglorious Basterds) won for Best Supporting Actor. Avatar, the highest grossing film in history and the most lauded film by critics, nabbed three technical awards including Visual Effects. Ironically, Avatar director James Cameron, was formerly married to Bigelow. Locker beat his film for Best Picture and Best Director. After an ill fated and embarrasing run at prime time on NBC, Jay Leno returned to late night tv last Monday. The show did well in the ratings, with reportedly millions tuning in Monday to see Leno return to his seat at The Tonight Show.
